Only when this heart is far away from him can Jones feel safe.
"I don't want that diabolical thing on board!" exclaimed Davy Jones.
"I'm sorry then," said Lord Beckett coldly, "because I want her to stay here, as that seems to be the only way of securing the ship's obedience to the company."
Jones clung to the side of the boat with his great left hand, the long tentacles of his beard writhing with fury.
Beckett nodded to Norrington, and Norrington led the soldiers down the deck carrying the treasure chest.
"The Dutchman's actions will only obey the command of its captain." Jones growled.
"And its captain is to command it," replied Beckett. "This is no longer your domain, Jones. Immortals have become of little importance. I thought that when I ordered you to kill your When you have a pet, you already understand that."
Thinking of the sea monster, Jones' face twitched.
The mighty sea monster that killed Jack Sparrow and dragged the Black Pearl to the bottom of the sea is now dead.
And it was the first casualty of Beckett's brutal campaign against the "uncivilized" sea.
Just then, Governor Swan stood up.
He was horrified to witness the destruction of the pirate ship on the Endeavor, no one survived on board, and all the ships were blown to pieces.
The governor was furious, and followed Beckett and Norrington aboard the Dutchman.
"Aren't you going to give these ships a chance to surrender?" the governor demanded of Davy Jones, his face pale against his white wig.
Jones said with a smug smile, "We've let them see us, and I think that's enough of an opportunity."
Swan outraged: 'My daughter could be on one of those boats!'
He yelled: "This alone is enough reason for your mercy!"
The Governor had been looking for Elizabeth for months, ever since he had helped her escape from her jail cell in Harbor Royal and watched her flee into the darkness of night.
He knew that Elizabeth was looking for Will and Jack among the pirates.
But he hadn't seen her or heard from her since that night.
He hoped that by traveling with Beckett and Norrington he would find her and beat her before she was caught and killed as a pirate.
But Beckett was displeased with Jones' blatant defiance for another reason.
"We need the prisoners to ask for more information," Beckett snapped at Jones. "That requires them to be alive."
"I'm killing pirates," Jones said. "It's an order from the company."
He bowed mockingly, then turned to Swann.
"Your daughter is dead, and was dragged down to the bottom of the sea together with the Black Pearl by my pet. Didn't Lord Beckett tell you?" Jones grinned sinisterly.
For a moment, Swan stood in shock.
Lord Beckett has been lying to him, Elizabeth is dead!
He turned and rushed to the cabin.
Lord Beckett cast an angry glance at Jones and followed Swann.
As Norrington was putting the key into the lock of the treasure chest, Swan suddenly grabbed him and dragged him aside.
"He knows it, doesn't he?" Swan yelled at Norrington, grabbing Norrington's collar and shaking, "You know it all, don't you?"
"Governor Swann!" Lord Beckett shouted from the door.
Swann pushed Norrington away, and he snatched a bayonet from the nearest marine and brandished it.
Norrington grabbed his arm and stopped him.
Beckett yelled at the soldiers: "Get out, get out for me."
The soldiers glanced at Norrington, who nodded.
Everyone filed out, leaving only the treasure chest, Swan, Beckett, Norrington, Jones, and Beckett's adjutant Mercer in the room.
"Governor Swann." Beckett comforted him, "Please believe me, I just did this to try to save you from the pain..."

Chapter 274 The worst pirates have more dignity than you!
"You're just trying to use my political connections to advance your career!" Swann snarled. "The worst pirates at sea have more dignity than you, even Jack Sparrow."
Beckett smiled faintly: "There is no such thing as Jack Sparrow anymore. He is just a selfish desire disguised with romance and illusion. He is a legend that we have already eliminated."
Norrington was still puzzled, why was Governor Swann so disturbed?
"You know Jack Sparrow is dead," he said to Swann.
"It's not him," said Swann. "It's Elizabeth!"
Admiral Norrington gasped, feeling himself knocked out of shock.
Although Elizabeth had indeed made her choice long ago to break off their engagement, Norrington still deeply missed this wayward woman.
The news of her death hit him hard, and he let go of the governor's grip, and Swann broke free, and flung open the treasure chest, revealing the beating heart of Davy Jones.
"No!" Jones yelled.
Swan raised the bayonet in his hand high.
Just as he was about to stab, Jones' voice pierced his pain.
"So, is he ready to take my load?" said the immortal captain through clenched teeth. "If you kill this heart, your heart must take its place, and you must take my place."
"The Flying Dutchman must always have a captain."
