Chapter 148: The Appearance of the Blood Sun
Chapter 148: The Appearance of the Blood Sun
"This is something we have considered as well, but the best way is to address issues as they arise during the process. Otherwise, no matter how well we plan, it will all just be a beautiful dream, wouldn’t you agree?"
Ilya and her companions had considered these things, but major errors can be corrected in advance. However, issues that arise in the moment require flexibility and adaptation. What they need to do is avoid overlooking any detail, rather than obsessing over perfect planning, scrupulously analyzing every step and word. That would not be improving the story but indulging in wishful thinking.
"As long as you’re aware, I’ll see if I can play this role well... It’s quite challenging, you know. I have to embody virtues of six of the Seven Great Demon Kings all by myself. Truly a test!"
Lynn went over the plot designed by Ilya and her companions in his mind again. According to their description, except for lacking the flaw of jealousy, he had to embody the titles of the other six Demon Kings, which was no small feat.
"It’s not six, it’s all seven. I forgot to mention, in our setting, you view us seven sisters as your possessions, so you would be jealous of every Demon trying to lure us and cruelly kill them."
Hearing Lynn’s words, Ilya suddenly remembered the aspect she missed. To ensure their safety, they needed this kind of assurance. Otherwise, if any Demon tried to seduce them because they were in power, it would be quite troublesome to deal with.
They couldn’t simply go on a killing spree because other Demons showed goodwill or tried to flatter them; that wouldn’t fare well with their reputation. However, if Lynn were to handle it, it would make sense. Being his possession and tainted by other Demons, he would have every reason to unleash a slaughter, especially since in the story, he was portrayed as someone despicable, with no regard for his reputation.
"Wow, to bring together all Seven Deadly Sins in one, I’d definitely count as a Great Demon."
Lynn grinned at the unfamiliar reflection in the mirror, looking every bit the sinister Demon he was meant to portray in the plot.
"If the Demon Emperor has no further questions, I suggest issuing orders today under the name of the new Demon Emperor to summon all nobles and military commanders to the palace for an audience, solidifying your name as Demon Emperor first."
Lynn didn’t have much time, and neither did Ilya and the Seven Great Demon Kings.
After all, the seven sisters were only at level 750, while the Demon Realm now boasted peak-level Great Demons at level 800 and above. Even Demigod-level powerhouses, previously thought extinct, were reappearing. Without Lynn’s arrival in the Demon Realm, they likely wouldn’t last much longer on their own.
"The Demon Realm must be vast, right? Can they all arrive before nightfall?"
Lynn wasn’t sure how large the Demon Realm was, but given the powerful strength and deep roots of the Demon Race, it couldn’t possibly be smaller than the three continents of Miracle World combined, could it?
He didn’t have the luxury of waiting patiently for everyone to assemble, at least not tonight; he had to return, then adjust his plans accordingly.
"Our teleportation arrays are spread throughout the Lower Realm, built with ancient craftsmanship far superior to Miracle World. Unless a Demon deliberately delays, within three hours, all Demons from this realm can arrive. The ones confronting you in Miracle World might take longer to return."
The Demon Race, after all, was an ancient and powerful lineage, having annihilated countless worlds before. They reached perfection in their crafts, making spatial teleportation a trivial matter for them.
"Three hours... that’s acceptable. Issue the order right away; within two and a half hours, I want to see all high-level Demons of the Demon Realm here. A minute late, and they’ll be flogged a hundred times; half an hour late will be seen as defiance, punishable by death!"
As soon as he finished speaking, without waiting for Ilya’s response, Lynn tried converting the non-attribute Fighting Spirit within him into Magic Power. After confirming no mistakes, he unleashed 80% of his aura, soaring into the sky from the Proud Palace.
In the next moment, the skies over the Demon Realm dramatically shifted, the once purple sun quickly becoming stained a blood-red hue. The sunlight cast down as though the sun itself was bleeding.
The appearance of the Blood Sun shocked the Demon Realm.
Countless Demons gazed up at the sky with a singular thought emerging in their minds.
The Demon Realm... is going to be chaotic again!
...
"Demon Emperor... you should have done this at the Demon Emperor Palace! This is my bedchamber!"
Always maintaining a calm demeanor, Ilya uncharacteristically panicked upon seeing this. She hadn’t anticipated that Lynn would have such a trick up his sleeve. Coupling this with the Demon Emperor’s decree would surely prove more effective than her straightforward orders.
But why couldn’t he choose a better place? This display of Demon Emperor’s aura originating from her bedchamber would lead others to misunderstand her relationship with the new Demon Emperor.
We’ve accepted being depicted as your possessions in the plot, but isn’t it too soon for this kind of interpretation?
The newly emerged Demon Emperor, with the Proud Demon King bowing down and willingly submitting, would undoubtedly ruin her reputation.
"Oh, just a small mistake, nothing major."
Lynn scratched his head and offered Ilya a look of apology, unconcerned whether she believed it or not...
"Sigh... you... I’ll go issue the orders!"
Ilya struggled to speak, paused, then chose to forgive him. What else could she do? Rank outranks even Demons—he’d already stepped into the role of Demon Emperor with that decree, leaving her with no choice but to cooperate.
"Thud, thud, thud..."
"Bang!"
The Proud Demon King stomped away, and the now-free Lynn was preparing to revise his lines to perfect his role as an actor when the door Ilya had slammed shut suddenly swung open.
Then a round, shiny head peeked in from outside.
"Is the Demon Emperor home? Are you dressed? I’m coming in~"
The little big-headed girl was asking but had already entered ahead of her words. Once inside, she immediately spotted the relaxed Lynn.
"Hmm~ Why do you look much uglier? The big sister’s technique is too sloppy; she turned a handsome guy into a brutish figure."
The little big-headed girl bounced up and down to Lynn’s side, turning circles around him before making a less-than-polite judgment of Ilya’s handiwork.
"These dragon horns look pretty realistic; let me feel them."
While commenting, the little big-headed girl spotted the dragon horns seemingly welded onto Lynn’s forehead. Curiosity piqued, she reached out to touch them.
And Lynn simply sat there watching her antics. He didn’t believe for a second that one of the Seven Great Demon Kings could be such a naïve little girl—she was definitely trying to act cute to get away with it. Lynn saw through her act immediately.
The little big-headed girl was somewhat short, but fortunately, Lynn was sitting, allowing her to easily reach the dragon horns. However, after only touching them twice, she lost interest in the hard objects and instead focused on Lynn’s face.
