Chapter 241: The Courageous and Brave

Chapter 241: The Courageous and Brave

Cecelia turned around and eyed him confusedly. "What’s the matter?" she asked.

Kadyn glanced at his sister and said, "I need to discuss something with Cecelia—"

"Oh, I will excuse myself," Elora nodded and strolled away. Although she was curious about what was going on, she discarded the idea of eavesdropping when she spotted her brother’s grave expression.

Kadyn looked at the girl in front of him and said, "Tell me the truth what is going on?"

"What do you mean?" Cecelia asked, but her heart trembled looking at Kadyn’s serious expression.

"You know what I mean," he said. "There is something wrong with you and I want to know what it is. Previously I did not realize it, but it has already been more than a few times when you suddenly vanished." He looked at her with a deep gaze. "Tell me what is it?"

Cecelia bit her lips and looked down. Her body trembled and a fearful expression emerged within her beautiful eyes. "I hear voices sometimes."

Kadyn’s heart tightened. "What kind of voices?"

Cecelia described everything that she encountered. The more Kadyn heard the darker his expression became. It seems his World Snatcher claw was not strong enough to completely purify the vampire bloodline.

Kadyn gritted his teeth and once more purified her bloodline. This was the only thing he could do to make her safe as much as possible. The enemy was too strong. "I think it would be better if you do not participate in the upcoming battle."

"No!" said Cecelia and grabbed Kadyn’s hand. "I cannot do this. All of my friends are putting their lives on the line. How could I hide like a coward? If I die, I will die with dignity and pride. I will never hide behind the corpses of my friends."

Kadyn felt helpless when he looked at her determined expression. She had made her decision. He nodded and said, "If you hear those voices again you have to tell me as soon as possible. Even if we are amidst the battle. Alright?"

"Alright," Cecelia smiled as she made a promise.

Kadyn looked at Cecelia’s back as she joined with Elora. He was just too weak. He could not even make his friends safe. He was the damn reincarnation of a legendary hero. Though he did not remember the time when he was Harrod the Great. He could feel the pride and arrogance in his bones ever since he merged with the shadow in his consciousness.

As if was lost in thought two birds flew in his direction and landed on the parapet before transforming into human form. "Slyff, Nefia," Kadyn said and sauntered towards the duo. "How’s the situation?"

"It isn’t very promising," said Slyff, his body trembling in anger and rage. "From wherever they pass they destroy everything. Trees and animals. Villages and cities. Kingdoms and empires. They leave only ashes in their wake. They are demons."

Kadyn clenched his fist and nodded. "How much time do we have?"

"They are moving too fast," Nefia spoke from the side. The others also started gathering when they realized that Slyff and Nefia had come back after scouting. "It will take at most two days before they are here."

"Two days," Kadyn muttered and nodded before turning towards Khrom and Morwag. "You two will go and gather all the mages in the city. No one can hide at this moment. Even if you need to force them, just do it. Take twenty people with you."

The duo nodded and proceeded to complete the order. This was a hard time, a wartime. There was no time for compassion and persuasion. They needed to do what they needed to do to win the battle. They would turn into villains if they needed to. They weren’t here to play hero. They were here to protect their loved ones.

"Alright, everyone," said Kadyn towards his companions. "Let’s get to work."

They nodded and went back to do what they were doing. There were hundreds of workers below the wall digging ditches. Kadyn looked at Hot Rod and said, "How’s the making of bombs going on?"

Hot Rod looked at Kadyn and said in a serious tone, "We have made a thousand rank five bombs and around a hundred rank six."

"Not enough," Kadyn frowned. "We need a lot more than that. We have to kill half of those damn creatures before they could reach the city walls."

"We will work harder," said Hot Rod. "In two days we can create at least double the bombs than we have. If we avoid sleeping and resting."

Kadyn nodded and said, "I will ask Elora to send Mind Refreshing potions to you guys."

After sending Hot Rod Kadyn flew jumped off the wall. While he was still in the air, wings of wind emerged behind his back and he flapped them and landed on the ground. He looked at the long and deep trench and nodded in satisfaction. He looked at the people in the distance who were hiding explosives beneath the ground.

"Come on guys," Kadyn encouraged as he passed through them. "Work hard. We are going to explode those damn creatures."

The people shouted in unison and excitement when they saw him. It had only been a day since Kadyn took charge of the main gate and he had already won over most of the guards and workers. They thought that with his help they would surely win this battle. And that’s what Kadyn wanted to see. He wanted to see savagery and fury in their eyes for their enemy.

Because afraid soldiers were soon to be dead soldiers. A soldier cannot be too proud but he should also not be afraid of his enemy. There was no place for cowardice on the battlefield. Because only brave and courageous emerge victorious.

Therefore, Kadyn did not say that you should not underestimate your enemy and all that rubbish. He showed them footage of wreaked villages and burned cities. Dead men and naked women. Decapitated infants and butchered old men. It was enough to boil their blood in rage.

They were ready to face their enemy.
