Chapter 362: You’re Bound to Lose
Chapter 362: You’re Bound to Lose
The onlookers even started to laugh shamelessly. Alistair Forrest, on the other hand, had a look of fond exasperation on his face. "My Honey is just that confident. The more I see it, the more I like it!"
’Young Master, you must have gotten kicked in the head by a donkey today. Diagnosis complete,’ the two bodyguards grumbled internally.
Susan Caldwell used every ounce of her strength to suppress the rage surging within her. She looked at Vera Xavier and said, "Is that so? I, for one, think you’ll be the one eating your words!"
After speaking, she turned to the workshop staff and said, "You can start cutting the stones. Start with mine."
At this, a cold smirk appeared on her lips. "You don’t mind if they cut my raw stone first, do you?"
Vera Xavier raised an eyebrow and smiled. "Be my guest."
Vera Xavier knew exactly what Susan Caldwell was planning. She wanted to cut a high-quality piece of Jade first to put psychological pressure on Vera.
Susan Caldwell smirked and had the staff begin cutting the stone under the guidance of her jade consultant. The first stone revealed a glassy-type jadeite. The Jade’s translucency was excellent, but its color wasn’t a deep green, falling far short of the Emperor Green standard. Still, it was considered quite good.
After the Jade was revealed, Alistair Forrest raised an eyebrow slightly. The head of his advisory team said, "Young Master, the quality of this Jade is quite good. It’s worth buying."
Alistair Forrest was actually a little tempted. He glanced at Vera Xavier, who remained as calm and unruffled as ever. His eyes darkened slightly, and with a wave of his hand, he declared, "I’m not buying. I’m going to buy the Jade my Honey cuts."
The entire advisory team: "..."
Hearing this, Vera Xavier gave him a thumbs-up. "You’ve got good taste. For that alone, I’ll consider you a friend."
Susan Caldwell shot the two of them a sidelong glance. In her eyes, Vera Xavier was just putting on a calm facade.
Susan Caldwell said with a smile, "Let’s take turns cutting one stone each. How about we cut one of the stones you bought next?"
Vera Xavier had no objection to her proposal. She had a staff member take a stone from the top of her pile and said, "This one will do."
When the staff member asked her where to start cutting, she pointed casually. "Right here is fine."
’There’s nothing in this stone anyway, so it doesn’t matter where they cut.’
These stones were actually just a Blinding Technique she was using. Still, she had the soul of a penny-pincher; even knowing the stone was empty, she felt a painful sting as the blade sliced into it. Several thousand yuan, gone just like that.
Seeing the worthless rock, Susan Caldwell couldn’t help but press her lips together to hide a smile. "Is this the raw stone you picked?"
Vera Xavier remained perfectly calm. "Isn’t the thrill of the gamble what jade-cutting is all about? One cut to rags, one cut to riches. It’s perfectly normal for a stone to be empty. Maybe the next ones will have something."
"Just keep up your act!" Skylar Crowe said coldly. "You’re guaranteed to lose today. When it’s your turn to eat rocks, we’ll see if you can still pretend!"
Vera Xavier just smiled faintly, not bothering to argue with Skylar Crowe.
They proceeded to cut five more stones each. In addition to the first glassy-type, Susan Caldwell’s raw stones also yielded an ice-type, a waxy-type, and a bean green-type. Aside from one dud, every single one of her other stones produced Jade.
From a jade-gambling perspective, the value of these pieces already exceeded a million, meaning her gamble had paid off handsomely.
As for the five stones Vera Xavier cut, every single one, without exception, was just plain rock. They didn’t yield even the lowest quality bean green or pea green jade.
Susan Caldwell had finished cutting all her stones. Vera Xavier, on the other hand, still had nearly twenty left to go, but not a single person in the crowd believed any of them would produce Jade.
