Chapter 55 Remaining Symptoms
Chapter 55 Remaining Symptoms
Ji Cheng quickly calmed down after hearing Wei Hongsi's words.
Chen Haoyu worked under him from the moment he joined the company. His way of dealing with people suited him very well, which is why he was taken under his wing and trained.
Ji Cheng considered himself to have a good eye for people and was always very loyal to his brothers. It wasn't really a matter of gratitude for Chen Haoyu's recognition, but how much of a benefit must Chen Haoyu have received to dare to deliberately sabotage today's event?
Besides, even if this kid had some ulterior motive, he shouldn't have made it so obvious, right? Especially just now, he tripped up Shen Qing right under his nose. Does he think he's blind?
"Engineer Wei, what do you think is going on with this kid?" Ji Cheng asked Wei Hongsi.
Wei Hongsi hesitated for a moment, then noticed several cases of the amusement park's new drinks on the side of the audience seats. He went over and took three bottles, then gave one to Ji Cheng and another to Chen Haoyu: "Calm down first, there's no need to rush."
Chen Haoyu nodded, picked up the drink, unscrewed the cap, and took a few sips.
When Wei Hongsi noticed Chen Haoyu's gaze lingering on the beverage bottle, he frowned slightly and asked, "Are you a little disgusted with this drink in your hand?"
"Disdain?" Ji Cheng glared at Chen Haoyu upon hearing this.
"Huh? This..." Chen Haoyu looked at the drink in his hand again, shook his head and said, "No."
Wei Hongsi noticed Chen Haoyu's gaze shift briefly, nodded slightly, and looked at Ji Cheng, asking, "President Ji, did he participate in your verification of Plan B before?"
"Oh, is that so?" Ji Cheng nodded. "But after the test that night, he didn't show any resistance, did he?"
"The manifestation of rebellious psychology varies from person to person, and some introverted people may not even show any signs," Wei Hongsi explained. "Moreover, in some cases, the individual may be willing to restrain rebellious psychology and thus not reveal it."
"Introverted personality?" Ji Cheng glanced at Chen Haoyu, feeling that he was completely unrelated. "I can roughly understand what you mean by suppressing your rebellious tendencies. It's like someone who doesn't like going to work, but has no choice but to do so to earn money, and sometimes even has to pretend that they love going to work."
"But whether he likes working or not, he knows in his heart, right?" He said, then looked at Chen Haoyu, "Did you not tell the truth during the test that day?"
"No, I was just describing how I felt at the time," Chen Haoyu quickly denied.
"This is just one scenario," Wei Hongsi continued. "When I say 'subjective willingness,' I also include choices at the subconscious level. In terms of the impact of viewing Option B, this scenario accounts for a larger proportion. Moreover, the influence of subconscious cognition on behavior often takes a period of time to manifest."
Ji Cheng nodded slowly, and after thinking for a moment, said to Chen Haoyu, "Go and check with our people immediately. Take everyone who participated in watching the Plan B test to the first floor and find a room for them to stay in. No one is to come out until Shen Qing leaves!"
"Received!" Chen Haoyu replied loudly, then turned and jogged away.
Ji Cheng then said to Wei Hongsi, "Engineer Wei, could you do me a favor and ask Shen Qing to wait a moment at the entrance of her lounge? I'll come find you after I've settled things."
"Okay." Wei Hongsi nodded and walked towards the stairwell.
This staircase is the main passageway between the second and third floors. Ji Cheng's arrangement was clearly to prevent Chen Haoyu and his group from running into Shen Qing again when they came down. If a few people reacted like Chen Haoyu, it's hard to say what might have happened.
Wei Hongsi went to the lounge where he had previously spent time with Ji Cheng and Lu Jiaqi, and sat down near the door with the door open.
The lounge where Shen Qing was located was right next to this one; she would pass by here when she returned to the third floor.
The sounds from the event venue on the third floor could be heard from time to time, and the host was still leading the audience in games, which seemed to be receiving a very enthusiastic response.
Wei Hongsi didn't pay much attention to this, and then thought of Chen Haoyu's "out-of-line" behavior earlier.
I had previously heard Chen Haoyu say that he almost spilled his drink on Shen Qing's skirt by accident, but he thought it was just a fan being nervous when meeting their idol and didn't take it seriously.
However, after Shen Qing stepped down from the stage, Chen Haoyu took the initiative to greet her, especially after being punished by Ji Cheng. This was not something a fan who would be nervous when meeting their idol would do.
So, did you first notice something was wrong before seeing the "risk warning," or did you become alert after seeing the "risk warning"?
After discovering that he had memory loss, Wei Hongsi spent his spare time thinking about related issues throughout the day.
It was during these reflections that he discovered a problem that he had been either intentionally or unintentionally ignoring—when did the ghostly text of the "system" first appear?
Logically speaking, such an important and extremely special event should have left a very deep impression on him. In fact, he remembered very clearly how he felt when he first saw the ghostly writing, and some of the things he did because of it.
Strangely, however, he couldn't recall the exact time when he first saw the ghostly text; he couldn't even be sure if it was in the first or second semester of his senior year of high school.
Fortunately, there are still clues to be found. During his senior year of high school, he was either at home or at school. When he goes back, he can ask his parents and high school classmates to at least partially reconstruct what happened back then.
There is a very important reason why we are paying special attention to this matter.
He wanted to confirm whether there had been no more memory gaps since the appearance of the ghostly text. If that were the case, it would mean that his second personality had disappeared after the "system" appeared.
Could the so-called "system" be another form of the second personality? Is "he" using this method to transmit information?
As he was pondering this, Wei Hongsi heard the door next door open, so he got up and went to the hallway.
Shen Qing had changed into casual clothes and flat sneakers. This outfit should prevent her from tripping as easily as before.
Wei Hongsi nodded to her and said, "The preparations upstairs will take a few more minutes, Ms. Ji, please wait a moment."
"Oh, okay." Shen Qing nodded, glanced at Wei Hongsi, and then turned to the staff member accompanying her.
The man took out a pack of tissues from his bag, and Shen Qing took it and held it up in front of Wei Hongsi, then touched her lips with her other hand.
Wei Hongsi understood, took out a tissue and wiped his mouth, then saw some bloodstains on it.
"Thank you," he said, wiping his face a few more times with a tissue.
He knew he had a cut in his mouth from being hit on the head by Shen Qing earlier; it hurt and his mouth tasted bloody. But the pain didn't last long, and there didn't seem to be much bleeding, so he didn't think much of it.
