Chapter 31 Margaret's Luck
Chapter 31 Margaret's Luck
Flames shot skyward!
The blast wave sent surrounding rubble and glass flying.
The tanker truck was blown in two, and burning gasoline spilled everywhere, forming a wall of fire on the street.
At that moment, Noah and Liam took off running.
Olivia followed with her troops.
The sudden explosion clearly startled Margaret and Frimendo. By the time they reacted, the flames had already blocked their path. Margaret and Frimendo simultaneously raised their hands to shield their faces and were forced back several steps by the blast wave.
"Chase them!" Margaret's voice came from behind, she was furious. "We can't let them get away!"
But the firewall was too powerful.
The flames from the burning gasoline reached two meters high, and the temperature was so high that it was impossible to get close.
Once the flames had subsided a bit, Olivia and the others had disappeared into the streets and alleys.
Margaret stared at the charred wreckage of the tanker truck, her face turning ashen.
"They got away." Frimendo, carrying the AK, said with a hint of displeasure, "Old nun, what are you planning to do next?"
"She can't escape," Margaret gritted her teeth. "Find her, send people out to search, we'll definitely find her."
Frimendo did not agree.
He'll take advantage of any benefits he can, but if those benefits are no longer available, he won't hold onto them. After all, he and that blonde girl have no personal grudges.
Olivia and the others ran for a long time.
Walk through alleys, climb over walls, and pass through ruins.
The centaur warriors, running fast, led the way. The battle dwarves, running slowly, followed behind to bring up the rear.
Noah and Liam were panting heavily, their legs trembling.
They stopped about half an hour later.
Olivia leaned against a wall, panting heavily.
She still held her short bow in her hand, ready to fire at any moment.
"Did you shake them off?" Liam asked.
"We should have shaken them off." Olivia wiped the sweat from her forehead. "But I reckon they won't give up, especially that crazy woman Margaret. She won't let us off easily."
"What should we do then?"
Olivia was silent for a few seconds, then took the parchment out of her bosom.
Territory Crafting Blueprint: Level 1 Barrier.
She needs to find a safe place to establish her territory.
She had a gut feeling that once she established her territory, she would undergo a qualitative change, and then neither Margaret nor the Mexican gang would be able to threaten her anymore.
"Let's go." Olivia put away the blueprints. "Let's find a safe place."
Noah and Liam exchanged a glance and followed.
Olivia's destination was the forest area five kilometers away, the same area where she had previously discovered the cabin. Clearly, it was the most suitable place to establish her 'territory'.
Meanwhile, the Church was judged.
Back at the sanctuary, Margaret sat in the main seat, with a believer in a white robe kneeling before her.
"You said you found a special treasure chest?" Margaret's voice was calm, but her eyes were full of greed.
"Yes, Godmother." The believer bowed his head. "It's in an abandoned warehouse two kilometers north of the church... The treasure chest is very bright, just as bright as the one that little girl opened before. The monsters guarding the chest are several gargoyles..."
Margaret stood up excitedly.
"take me."
Two kilometers away, an abandoned warehouse.
The treasure chest was hidden in the innermost corner of the warehouse, covered by a pile of tattered cardboard boxes. Four gargoyles crouched around it. Margaret did not order the spearmen to attack, but instead had the newly joined church survivors rush forward with weapons.
In her eyes, the value of spearmen was far greater and more precious than these "consumables".
"The time has come to show your devout faith. God will protect you. Charge forward and crush those four monsters!"
Margaret, holding a long staff, solemnly blessed the survivors.
Those people had no choice but to take up their weapons and grit their teeth and go for it.
The battle was extremely brutal, and even though some of the survivors were armed, these weapons had limited effect on the gargoyles.
Gargoyles can fly at extremely high speeds, and their defense is that of a solid rock to ordinary people.
Conversely, human flesh and blood are as fragile as paper to gargoyles.
With a single claw, it can tear open clothes and flesh, exposing the intestines and internal organs inside.
"Charge, fight, even in death, God will receive the faithful believers to his side and let them enjoy the bliss of heaven!" Margaret continued to tempt them from the safe zone behind.
Some people have truly been brainwashed, while others are fully aware of it but have no other choice.
Their fate was sealed the moment they were chosen.
disagree?
It means betraying God, and you will be sacrificed.
Perhaps, if we win, we can get what they want.
Safe shelter and ample supplies.
These were all benefits that Margaret had promised them.
In the end, more than half of the twenty-odd people were killed or wounded before they were able to destroy two gargoyles. Margaret then used her spearmen to launch a sneak attack on the remaining two, taking them down without any casualties.
Once she was sure it was safe, she immediately sent everyone out and made them drag away the corpses and remains on the ground.
She left only her absolutely loyal spearmen to guard her.
She excitedly pushed open the cardboard box and saw the treasure chest. It was hexagonal, golden, and radiated a dazzling light, like a bright lamp in the dark night.
Her heart started racing uncontrollably.
Reach out and touch it, and the treasure chest opens.
Golden light surged forth and coalesced into a sheet of parchment.
[Territory Crafting Blueprint: Level 1 Castle]
[Required Resources: 2000 Gold, 1000 Stone, 500 Wood]
Margaret's eyes widened, and she burst into laughter.
"God bless, God bless!" She made the sign of the cross on her chest with utmost devotion, then quickly tucked the drawings away from her body.
She walked out with great confidence.
A believer approached and asked, "Godmother, has God given any instructions?"
"Yes!" Margaret said solemnly, "Resources, we need a lot of resources now, gold coins, stone ore, wood... The Church of Judgment has received God's approval, and unimaginable miracles are about to occur. All of you will witness this sacred moment."
"Great! Praise be to God! Praise be to our Godmother!" the believers shouted as they knelt on the ground.
Meanwhile, Frimendo returned to his territory.
An underground parking lot has been converted into a stronghold for the Mexican gang. It is filled with supplies: food, water, weapons, ammunition, and two military buildings nearby: one is the lair of the lesser demons, and the other is the lair of Mag.
In Frimendo's eyes, this place was impregnable.
He was sitting on a worn-out sofa, holding a bottle of tequila in one hand, taking big gulps of it, while his other hand was stroking the well-behaved blonde beauty next to him.
The other person is a model, a very famous one.
But in this new world, all the rules have been reshaped. Now, this once high and mighty female model has become his "mount," and he can ride her in different positions every day, doing whatever he wants.
"This is paradise!" Frimendo said with a smile.
"Boss," one of the underlings ran over, "we have news from the mole."
"explain!"
"A spy infiltrated the Church of Judgment sent back a message saying that Margaret found a territory construction blueprint in a treasure chest."
Frimendo stopped.
"Territory building blueprints?"
"right!"
Frimendo put down the bottle and stood up.
"It sounds like something very important. Whatever it is, we'll go find it." He said, "We'll dig three feet into the ground to find it. What the old nun had, I must have too!"
The underlings exchanged bewildered glances, and although they didn't understand, they still replied in unison, "Yes!"
Frimendo stepped out of the basement and looked at the ruins in the distance.
"Territory," he muttered to himself. "Sounds interesting."
