Chapter 113: War IV
Chapter 113: War IV
The war between the two sects continued fiercely, with lives being claimed left and right. Surely, today was going to be a busy day for the grim reapers.
The battle between the disciples was great and fierce, but there was an even greater catastrophic battle going on something distance away.
"Frozen Lotus." Elder Mei’s soft voice drifted in the wind.
A three hundred meters wide lotus bloomed beneath her, releasing a heavy chill into the air.
Ancestor Elder looked at the lotus, her brows raised. "You raised this move to such a level?"
The white-haired woman waved her hands as a response. Thousands of dangerous ice spikes flew out of the lotus, rushing into the air straight at Ancestor Elder.
Unfazed, the woman watch them come close, then whispered. "Ignite."
Suddenly, the world brightened, and a huge explosion went off out of nowhere. A wave of heat washed over the terrain, turning the grasses to ashes.
From within the smoke and ash, Ancestor Elder heard Elder Mei’s voice again.
"Heaven’s gate: Path of Frost."
Boom! Boom!
Two enormous ice pillars appeared out of thin air and struck the ground, causing a subtle tremor.
Then, something sparked between the two pillars. Elder Mei raised her hands and made a hand sign.
"Frost Dragon: Obliterate."
From the sparks, an enormous dragon head made entire out of ice appeared with a valiant roar that shook the heavens.
Seeing this, Ancestor Elder’s eyes narrowed, and she immediately did the same hand sign.
"Fire Kaiju: Ashes to the world."
A monster head made out of rocks and fire appeared above her, looking like a dragon yet having a large horn on its nose.
The monster roared with a low grow, causing the air to simmer with heat.
The dragon and the monster faced each other, then unleashed their ultimate abilities.
A large pillar of ice below the freezing point shot straight at Ancestor Elder. And likewise, a concentrated beam of fire and lava shot from the monster head straight at Elder Mei.
The two energy blasts met midair with a catastrophic boom, its shockwave reaching the battle between disciples far from them.
The struggle between the two beasts continued for a long while, then the ice dragon exploded with even more energy.
Instantly, the stalemate was broken.
Ancestor Elder rapidly retreated as the monster head she had summoned was frozen and shattered by the ice beam, proving that Elder Mei won this exchange.
"You have grown strong, Little Mei. I’m impressed."
She smiled fondly, then took out a red dagger made of glass.
Elder Mei’s eyes narrowed upon seeing the dagger, and she felt a hint of dread.
’That... has taken so much blood that it turned red completely?’
She could tell that the dagger was transparent before, and had only turned red after something had stained it.
"How many people did you kill with this dagger?" She asked, preparing to draw out her own weapon.
Ancestor Elder smiled faintly. "Not much. Just a few Emperor Stage cultivators."
Her words made Elder Mei’s eyes widen, and she instantly took out her weapon—a short sword.
The blade was silver, with properties that made it ripple under the lights. Seeing the weapon, it was Ancestor Elder’s turn to be surprised.
"He gave you that weapon?"
She recognized the weapon, as she had fought against the former owner several times in the past. The short sword was a weapon that always fulfilled the will of their master, and she had barely survived being killed by its former owner in the past.
’It’s different. She’s merely an Emperor Stage. There is no way she can pose that much threat.’
Unaware of her thoughts, Elder Mei levitated higher into the air.
"The Sect Master gave me on the day I ascended to the Emperor Stage. Though, he forbade me from using it. Today however, he has given me the permission to use it."
Hearing this, Ancestor Elder was disturbed. "He gave you permission?"
Elder Mei nodded once, her expression unreadable. Ancestor Elder tried to see if she was blushing, but the white-haired woman’s face gave nothing away.
’If he’s actually present, then this war is meaningless.’
A conflicted look flashed in her eyes, and she made a resolution in her heart. Raising the dagger, she abruptly dashed at Elder Mei.
The white-haired woman wasn’t caught off guard and responded by thrusting her sword forward.
Ancestor Elder shifted her body slightly, preventing the sword from sinking into her heart. Instead, it pierced her shoulder and she felt a mind-blowing pain.
However, even through the pain, she stabbed her dagger straight at Elder Mei’s heart.
It was at that moment, that she heard something whistling toward her.
Bang!
Something struck the side of her head, throwing her off balance. Her dagger missed, and the white-haired woman used the opportunity to drive her short sword deeper into Ancestor Elder’s shoulder.
"Ah!"
The injured woman unleashed one of her techniques and rapidly escaped, her breathing heavy.
Blood had stained her robes, and she looked around with a furious expression. Someone had used a sneaky method to attack her, causing her to miss.
’Who dares?!’
Although the attack didn’t hurt her, it made her lose her chance at killing this troublesome ice woman.
Elder Mei was equally surprised about the sudden interference, and was wary. After all, she didn’t know the identity of the archer and she didn’t know if he might target her next.
Still, she was relieved that Ancestor Elder’s dagger hadn’t touched her. Raising her sword that had consumed the woman’s blood, she tilted her head and asked.
"Do you want to continue?"
Two hundred meters away, Seraph lowered his modified sniper rifle and sighed.
"Even such a powerful shot could only push her slightly."
He was starting to understand how strong Emperor Stage cultivators were. Keeping the gun inside his storage ring, he tore his gaze away from the battle between the two women and continued on his journey to the Inferno Sect.
’Dungeons, right? I’ll burn their house before leaving too.’
He smiled to himself, though his heart still longed for rescuing Ariana and Tamar the most.
