Chapter 9, easy mode, but I refuse!
Chapter 9, easy mode, but I refuse!
The night passed quickly, and in the early hours of the next day, the Oak Merchants' convoy was ready to depart as scheduled.
Roland was initially worried because of You Che's unusual behavior yesterday, but You Che arrived at the meeting point on time and looked normal, which put his mind at ease.
At sunrise, the convoy set off on time, departing from the hotel in an orderly fashion, passing through most of Adela town, and slowly heading towards the west gate.
You Che sat motionless in the carriage assigned to him, watching the town scenes flash by outside the window.
To be fair, the Oak Merchant Guild's carriage was much more comfortable than the militia carriage he had ridden in when he first traveled through time.
First of all, this carriage naturally has a complete cabin, so it doesn't have to be exposed to the wind and sun. And although the interior isn't luxurious, it runs very smoothly with almost no shaking, which is obviously why it was so expensive.
You Che remembered that in the mid-to-late game of the original game, there was a route to join a merchant guild, but that only allowed you to be a regular member, though you could still gain a significant resource advantage.
Although Roland's character is completely different from the merchant NPC in the game, You Che is certain that he is one of the successors of the current guild president.
In other words, if I stay by his side and make good use of the game knowledge in my mind and Roland's resources to develop slowly, then this time travel can definitely be considered as choosing the easy mode.
only……
Yu Che stared unblinkingly out the window as the convoy drove through the streets of Adela, the shops and houses on both sides coming into view.
Shops were open for business, pedestrians came and went, and children ran and played. However, these scenes full of life were completely different in You Che's eyes.
It was as if a deep red filter had been applied to his eyes. Under that bloody reflection, the bustling and warm town turned into ruins in a daze, and the townspeople who were chatting and laughing on the streets turned into mutilated corpses.
Just then, the convoy passed by the market area exit, and You Che immediately spotted the newly opened stall. Blood filled his vision, and then he saw the magician soliciting customers in front of the stall, his entire head gone; and the well-behaved girl busy behind the stall, the white ribbon swaying on her head, seemed to be stained with a shocking red.
You Che closed his eyes tightly.
Before they knew it, the convoy had already driven out of the town.
In a daze, I heard someone calling out, "Mr. Yu Che? The boss wants to see you."
You Che opened the car door: "Okay, I'll go right now."
He quickly arrived at Roland's carriage, where Roland was sorting through the local specialties he had acquired the day before. Seeing You Che arrive, he smiled and nodded.
"I never expected to find such high-value goods in this small town. It's all thanks to you."
You Che simply smiled and said, "It's what I should do."
"No need to be modest, Mr. You Che. You have already proven your abilities," Roland said sincerely. "Once we return to headquarters, I will resolve your residency issue and officially hire you as my chief assistant. I hope you will continue to assist me in the future!"
Roland spoke so earnestly that You Che knew that if he simply nodded, it would be a guaranteed spot in the late stages of the main storyline.
however……
You Che looked out the window. The sun was still far from reaching its highest point in the sky, and dusk was far away, but the blood-red color reflected in his eyes had not faded.
"I'm sorry, Mr. Roland," You Che said slowly, "I have a request, and I hope you can grant it."
Roland was slightly taken aback: "What?"
……
Inside the central tower of Adela town.
Baron Grammer, the town's lord and strongest warrior, sat in the main seat, dressed in magnificent silver armor, and was holding a crucial meeting with the militia leader, the mayor, and other officials.
The core of the meeting was to determine the appropriate level of response to the recent unusual activity in the dark world.
According to the mayor and others, although there were unusual movements in the dark realm, the situation was similar to the previous times, and in the end, there would probably be no major problems, so there was no need to make a big fuss.
The militia leader, on the other hand, was inclined to take strict precautions. Based on some kind of intuition, he felt that this time it would definitely not be as simple as in the past, but he could not produce any evidence to convince others and could only be questioned by those officials.
As for Lord Baron Grammer, although he was the one who made the final decision, the militia commander and the mayor had completely opposing views, which made it difficult for him to make a decision.
Just then.
"Bang!"
The conference room door was suddenly pushed open, startling everyone in the room who looked towards the entrance, where a handsome face appeared before them.
It was You Che.
He withdrew his foot from the door and strode into the room.
Behind him followed an elderly man in a white priest's robe, his face full of kindness, which created a stark contrast with You Che walking in front.
The old man was the town's pastor, a highly respected figure whom everyone present recognized. However, no one knew who the person who kicked down the door was.
What's up with this guy?
The only person in the room who recognized You Che was the militia leader, but he was stunned when he saw You Che barging into the meeting room with the town's pastor, and he didn't know whether he should speak or not.
Of those present, only Baron Grammer remained unfazed; he merely narrowed his eyes and sized up You Che.
You Che completely ignored the reactions of the crowd and gave them no time to express their anger or objection, speaking directly:
"Listen up, everyone! This disturbance in the Dark Realm is different from the past. The Dark Races will launch a massive attack, and it will happen in just two days!"
"So there's no time for you to waste now. In the name of the tribunal, I order you to mobilize everyone and prepare for battle with all your might!"
Then, You Che pointed to himself: "Most importantly, I will formulate the defense plan and command the battle! No objections will be accepted!"
Everyone on the mayor's side was stunned. They couldn't understand the situation at all, nor did they know who this person who was spouting such nonsense was, but they were indeed intimidated by the name of the court.
The militia commander was also surprised to hear You Che's words. He had been keeping an eye on You Che's movements and had assumed that he had left with the caravan.
But now that You Che is back, what exactly is he trying to do...?
Both sides' gazes fell on Baron Grammer, but the baron seemed oblivious. His eyes darted back and forth between You Che and the old priest behind him several times, and then, for some reason, he slowly nodded.
"Okay! But you need to discuss your plan with me beforehand!"
These words shocked everyone present!
Looking at the various expressions on the faces of the crowd, You Che smiled silently.
Yes, he decided to return to fight.
You're saying following Roland is easy mode? Sorry, I never played Minesweeper on easy difficulty when I was a kid!
I love playing on the highest difficulty!
A mere plot-driven death? I'll rewrite it for you!
