Chapter 67 First Arrival at the Weihe Gang
Chapter 67 First Arrival at the Weihe Gang
Yue Feng and Hall Master Shu chatted and laughed all the way, as if they were old friends who had known each other for a long time. Before they knew it, they had arrived outside the Weihe Gang's headquarters. Hall Master Shu stopped, ordered his men to go in and announce their arrival, and then grasped Yue Feng's hand, saying:
"Brother Feng, I wonder which gang you've joined? If not, I happen to have a vice hall master position vacant here. If you don't mind, why not just join our Great Wind Gang? It's better than wandering around the martial world."
Yue Feng said, "I appreciate Brother Shu's kindness. However, I'm used to a carefree life and can't stand the constraints of the gang's rules."
Master Shu wanted to persuade him further, but his subordinate reported, "The man surnamed Liang said he's not feeling well today and won't see any guests. He told us to go back to where we came from."
Master Shu paused for a moment, patted Yue Feng's hand, and said to him, "I have important matters to attend to today. Brother Feng, you must come to the Great Wind Gang to find me in the future. Let's have a drink and a good chat."
Yue Feng said, "Next time for sure." Hall Master Shu nodded to him, then turned his face, his expression as cold as frost: "That Liang guy just disappears like that? Who does he think he is? Throw him in!"
His men, who had been waiting for his words, immediately agreed and rushed towards the Weihe Gang's headquarters. A cacophony of sounds erupted as soon as they entered. After a short while, Hall Master Shu strode in with his head held high.
Yue Feng was quite curious and followed Hall Master Shu into the hall. Hall Master Shu saw him follow and assumed he was just looking for someone, so he reminded him to be careful and then ignored him.
The two walked one after the other to a spacious hall. Members of the Weihe and Dafeng gangs were facing each other at the entrance. Upon seeing Hall Master Shu arrive, they unanimously made way for him. Hall Master Shu went straight into the hall and stood in the center. Members of both gangs then rushed in and stood on either side.
At the far end of the hall sat a grand armchair, upon which sat a burly old man, holding a large bowl. Hall Master Shu said to the old man, "Hall Master Liang, why are you drinking alone here? Why don't you let your brothers share in the enjoyment?"
Master Liang downed the wine in his bowl in one gulp, then threw the large bowl at Master Shu: "Shu Xingyao! Stop wasting your breath. Haven't you always wanted my branch? Come and take it!"
Shu Xingyao easily dodged Liang Tangzhu's hidden weapon and said coldly, "Very well, I've heard that Liang Tangzhu's palm technique was passed down from your gang leader. Coincidentally, my palm technique was also passed down from my gang leader. Let's have a contest and see whose palm technique is superior!"
The two couldn't agree on anything and started fighting. Yue Feng, who had only watched a few moves, recognized that Shu Xingyao was using the Demon-Subduing Palm technique that he and Deng Jun had adapted.
At that time, his mastery of the Demon-Subduing Palm technique was not yet perfect, so the modified version had many flaws. Unlike Deng Jun, Shu Xingyao was not able to adapt to changing circumstances when facing an enemy, and in Yue Feng's eyes, it was simply unbearable to watch.
The members of the Big Wind Gang cheered loudly:
"Excellent palm technique!"
"To witness the incredible skills passed down from our esteemed leader today is truly an eye-opener!"
"You henchmen of the Weihe Gang, surrender now!"
……
Yue Feng couldn't bear to watch or listen any longer, so he secretly transmitted his voice to Shu Xingyao: "When the Buddha rises three inches, the demon falls five inches; the rise and fall are endless, and the subjugation of demons is endless."
Even in the midst of a fierce battle, Shu Xingyao heard those sixteen characters clearly. He was startled, wondering who this master was who had sent him the message, and even more so, what the meaning of those sixteen characters was.
Just then, Master Liang struck with his palm, and Shu Xingyao hastily parried, his internal energy momentarily choked. In a flash of inspiration, he raised his elbow three inches higher, instantly unblocking his meridians and channeling his true energy, forcing Master Liang back several steps.
Master Liang felt that the force in Shu Xingyao's palm had suddenly become unusual, and thinking that he had been holding back all along, he took a few steps back, clasped his hands in a fist and said to Shu Xingyao:
"I am grateful for Master Shu's mercy. My skills are inferior; you may kill me or torture me as you see fit. However, this branch was personally entrusted to me by Old Master Xiong, and I cannot hand it over to him under any circumstances. Young Miss!"
As Master Liang was speaking, he suddenly shouted at the top of his lungs. A girl dressed in light purple emerged from the back hall, yawning as she walked: "Ha—Uncle Liang, you're done fighting so quickly? Did you win?"
Liang, the hall master, looked ashamed and said, "I am incompetent and no match for Hall Master Shu."
Xiong Zhaozhao nodded nonchalantly and sat down in the armchair. She then caught sight of Yue Feng standing below, jumped up, and asked with a mixture of surprise and delight, "Eh? Feng Yue! You've come to see me?"
Yue Feng nodded with a smile. Shu Xingyao, Hall Master Liang, and even the members of both gangs became increasingly suspicious, their gazes shifting back and forth between Xiong Zhaozhao and Yue Feng. Xiong Zhaozhao said, "Why didn't you tell me you were coming? I thought you wouldn't arrive until tonight."
Yue Feng said, "I just arrived and this happened."
Xiong Zhaozhao sat back down in her chair, glanced around the hall, her gaze lingering only briefly on Shu Xingyao's hands, before saying, "My father is waiting to see you. Hurry up and send these people away. Shall we do it ourselves?"
Yue Feng said, "You should do it. If it weren't for Brother Shu leading the way, I wouldn't have been able to find your family's headquarters. I don't want to fight with Brother Shu."
Xiong Zhaozhao was incredibly clever; with a mere raise of an eyebrow, she had already guessed the gist of it. She snorted lightly, "Fine, you're the boss, if you don't move, I will. Anyway, this kid doesn't need your help, so I'm happy to save some money."
Before anyone could react, she held up an index finger to Shu Xingyao: "Hall Master Shu, right? You led the way for Feng Yue, and Feng Yue appreciates your kindness. I don't want to push things too far. How about this, one sword strike. If you can withstand one of my sword strikes, I'll transfer this hall to you."
The members of the Dafeng Gang immediately started shouting, all feeling that Xiong Zhaozhao had gone too far. Shu Xingyao stopped his men and asked Xiong Zhaozhao, "Miss Xiong, is what you say true?"
Xiong Zhaozhao snorted and ignored him.
Shu Xingyao took a deep breath: "Alright, Miss Xiong, please draw your sword."
Xiong Zhaozhao slammed her hand on the chair, leaping into the air like a carp leaping over the dragon gate. With a somersault, her sword was already drawn, striking downwards from mid-air, its chilling aura enveloping the entire hall. Facing this thunderous, furious sword strike, Shu Xingyao was like a lone boat on a vast ocean, swaying precariously, on the verge of capsizing at any moment.
No one dared to breathe loudly. Even the novice martial artist could see that Shu Xingyao was doomed to die under Xiong Zhaozhao's sword.
At this critical moment when life and death hung in the balance, a sudden gust of wind blew straight in from outside the hall, colliding head-on with Xiong Zhaozhao's chilling sword energy. They dissipated simultaneously, and the resulting shockwave pushed all the members of both gangs against the wall.
Xiong Zhaozhao withdrew her sword to protect herself and flipped backward. A cold-faced young man stood at the entrance of the hall, slowly withdrawing his palm. Many members of the Weihe Gang cried out in panic:
"It's the Commander! The Commander has arrived!"
