Chapter 470 - 22: Descent of the Heroic Spirit (Part 2)
Walking through the corridor of the building, Fog Dragon Deniro couldn’t help but look up. This single-layer corridor is as high as a hundred meters, even the true form of a Giant Dragon could roam freely here.
"How much more is there that I haven’t yet learned," Fog Dragon Deniro lamented, "The deeper I delve into the empire created by the Dragon Group, the more mesmerized I become. It’s such a pity I couldn’t witness the birth of this civilization from the very beginning."
"But now you can see the civilization expanding in front of your eyes and participate in it," Karon turned his head slightly, smiling gently at the Fog Dragon.
Fog Dragon Deniro’s humanoid form isn’t a result of Transformation Skill, but rather a unique form of Magic Talent. Therefore, this Fog Dragon’s humanoid form always has some differences from normal humans, because he rarely appears in humanoid civilizations, making his magical mimicry not quite skilled.
At this moment, Fog Dragon Deniro resembled more like a Dragon-man without wings, with claws shaped like human fingers, and his eyes were clearly dragonlike vertical pupils, rather than human eyes.
Deniro nodded, "It’s my honor to be part of such a great endeavor. I believe that even if our empire, the civilization crafted by the Dragon Race, fades away in the long river of time, perhaps our names will still be recorded by historians in their books."
"Haha," Karon strode forward and nodded back at soldiers and casters passing hurriedly, then turned his head to look at Fog Dragon Deniro with a smile: "So, this is your pursuit, Deniro."
"Yes, the long lifespan of dragons shouldn’t be spent just sleeping away, we need to find some goals to pass the endless ages. I’m not interested in other Giant Dragons’ obsession with hoarding treasures, it’s too dull and too much like a simple beast hunting for prey."
Fog Dragon Deniro paused slightly, glanced at the Red Dragon whose gaze had turned strange, and quickly added, "Of course, this doesn’t mean I’m not interested in treasures, it’s just that it’s not my sole or highest pursuit, treasures still thrill me."
Karon chuckled silently and shook his head. He didn’t intend to let the Fog Dragon serve the Dragon Group for free; that wouldn’t be realistic. He just hadn’t expected a creature like a Giant Dragon, which inherently loathes repetitive and overwhelming tasks, to accept them willingly like Fog Dragon Deniro.
This period of Fog Dragon Deniro’s behavior has been under watch by the Red Dragon. He discovered that the Fog Dragon genuinely enjoys participating in these matters, unlike Blue Dragon Doss, who works entirely due to the obligatory duties of a Dragon Group member.
"Rest assured, by joining the Dragon Group, you become one of them, likewise enjoying the rights of the ’Dragon’s Covenant’," Karon stated.
The guards within the barracks were not as severe as those outside, but those moving around were some elite warriors and casters, requiring no extensive guarding.
Karon’s steps halted in front of a door, which was slightly ajar, with no soldiers guarding nearby, only two tall stone statues, vivid and lifelike, standing on either side of the door like warriors holding sharp swords, guarding the entrance.
The sign hanging above the door’s arch bore words written in common language, ’Armory—Golem Logistics Group’.
It was one of the reasons Karon came here.
The ’Burning Hooves’ Legion is the personal guard corps directly under Karon, the Emperor of the Imperial, besides the Imperial Guard; this legion can be considered the strongest within the Imperial army now, serving as the Emperor’s blade.
And not only equipped with elite warriors, this legion is also equipped with some powerful magical constructs, like one of the mages’ favorite magic constructs—Golems.
Two Imperial Guard Warriors used their tokens to receive the vision scan from the golems standing on either side of the door. Then the slightly ajar door automatically and slowly opened.
Yet a Scholar Mage had been quietly waiting behind the door.
Seeing the arrival of the Red Dragon, the Scholar Mage hurriedly saluted, "Your Majesty!"
"Mobius, what are you doing here," The Ancestral Red Dragon frowned slightly.
Karon knew that the Scholar Mage in front of him, Mobius, was listed ninety-ninth in the roster of Wise Kings plans submitted, not particularly outstanding in strength but had some achievements in research on magic constructs.
This fellow was also one of the leaders Karon had established in the Golem research department after passing down the ancient magic empire’s knowledge of magic constructs.
By usual practice, this Scholar Mage should now be in the research department, not come here.
Even though the Ancestral Red Dragon enjoyed the vanity common to all sentient beings, liking followers’ flattery, he didn’t like deliberate currying favor, for Karon, achievement is better than mere flattery.
"Your Majesty, the research department has recently made some progress, so I came here to lead this experiment. I didn’t expect to encounter the honor of Your Majesty’s presence,"
Scholar Mage Mobius replied calmly.
"Made some breakthrough results, very well, show me," The Ancestral Red Dragon’s brows suddenly relaxed, moving forward with the other.
"Looks like this guy is here to claim credit," The Ancestral Red Dragon understood the other’s thoughts, although this didn’t make Karon dislike the Scholar Mage.
To him, it’s a good thing, accomplishments require showcasing, require claiming credit, require rewards. Others give to him, he gives to others; this is Karon’s principle, an alternative equivalent exchange.
This is the world’s most solid relationship.
"Your Majesty, please look, this is what our research department has been continually researching day and night, the improved method," Scholar Mage Mobius slightly bowed, extending his right hand.
Karon had already seen it, among several casters gathered, a three-meter-tall Giant Stone Golem stood in the courtyard, the casters were inscribing the final magic array on the Golem.
This Giant Stone Golem looked very crude, completely incomparable to the golems Karon personally fashioned using his earth and metal talent authority.
In Karon’s hands, he could easily complete various shaping for whatever low-level golems he wished to create, only needing to marginally consume some of his Magic Power.
But for Karon, relying solely on himself, even consuming all his time on crafting golems would be not worthwhile. What cannot be mass-produced is, after all, not advanced enough.
Only exceedingly powerful and special golems could make Karon spend his near-valuable time.
Thus, Karon imparted the knowledge retained from the Ancient Magic Empire to the Scholar Mages in the research department, letting them cultivate casters and alchemy craftsmen specializing in golem manufacturing.
And another crucial aspect is the energy drive for golems, while having Magic Core, also needs a large amount of Elemental Essence or Soul to truly drive the Golem Legion.
But the current Imperial does not yet possess the capability to capture Elemental Essence and Souls rampantly in the sub-element plane.
This is another problem the Scholars Research Department needs to solve for Karon.
But it seems this problem has found a breakthrough under the scholars’ diligent research.
Surrounding casters withdrew after inscribing the last magic array, while Scholar Mage Mobius stepped forward, standing in front of the tall Giant Stone Golem.
The tall Giant Stone Golem differed somewhat from the golems Karon himself crafted.
These golems shaped by the Scholar Mages had eyes sculpted from crystal into realistic eyes, looking like genuine human eyes.
And the golem’s body was engraved and cast with mercury magic patterns, connecting the golem’s core and eyes various parts.
Mobius stood before the golem, gazing into the golem’s eyes, planting his Magic Staff on the ground, then began chanting a special spell aloud.
"Contract with silver and stone as foundation,"
"Wind of lamentation fortifies the wall, forging the four gates,"
"Released within the holy hall, descending upon the path to the Imperial,"
"Summoning here,"
"Your form resides under Emperor’s command, our fate entrusted to the Heroic Spirit Sword,"
"Respond to the heroic spirit summons, comply with this will, conform to this logic, now should answer the call and arrive!"
Curse Magic’s force, blown by the wind of lamentation to faraway, arrived in the Giant Dragon Hall.
In the next moment, a soul inhabited its body, the golem’s eyes radiating dazzling light.
Then the golem turned, kneeling on one knee toward Karon standing in the rear, emitting a thunderous voice.
"Your Majesty, my master, your loyal warrior has answered the call!"
